What to Expect on
Installation Day

Most projects run two to four days — not the weeks a demolition and rebuild takes — wrapped in situ, with your floors and worktops covered and protected before a blade comes out. Nothing is ripped out, and nothing goes to the rubbish dump.

Here is the day in the order it actually happens — protection, preparation, the wrap itself, then a walk-through you do yourself — so that nothing about it surprises you.

In thirty seconds

The short answer.

Installation day starts with protection. Wrapt Interiors™ covers floors, worktops and everything else at risk before any cutting begins, then works through the preparation — cleaning, degreasing, repairs and edge priming. Only then does film go on, element by element, in situ, over two to four days rather than the weeks a renovation runs to, for most projects.

You can check the material as it happens. Architectural film carries its manufacturer's reference on the roll label, so the roll being opened in your kitchen can be matched against the reference named on your quote, at any point you like.

At the end you walk the work yourself. The warranty documents are handed over at completion, with our workmanship cover in writing alongside them, and the balance falls due only after your inspection — never before.

The day, in order

Five things that happen, in this sequence.

The same order on a single cupboard door and on a full commercial floor — only the scale changes.

01

Protection before a blade comes out

Floors, worktops and the surfaces around the work are covered and protected first. The work itself is clean and quiet — no demolition, no skip in the driveway, and nothing going to the rubbish dump.

02

The roll label you can check

Every architectural film carries its manufacturer's reference on the roll label. Match the roll we open against the reference named on your quote, at any point in the day you like.

03

Preparation — the hours nobody sees

Cleaning, degreasing, repairs and edge priming, given the time it honestly takes. On most jobs it is more work than the wrapping, and it is where a wrap's life is decided.

04

The wrap, element by element

In situ, one door, drawer front, panel or counter at a time — with edges, returns and cut-outs finished to the same standard as the faces. Where taking a door off produces a better wrap, it comes off and goes back on its existing hinges.

05

Your walk-through, then the documents

You inspect the finished work yourself. The warranty documents and our workmanship cover are handed over at completion, and the balance falls due only after that inspection.

While we are there

You keep using the room while we work.

Wrapping happens in situ, and that is the whole point of it. There is no demolition, no dust and no skip in the driveway, so the room does not have to be emptied of life while we are in it. In most homes you carry on using the kitchen around us, because the work moves through it element by element rather than closing all of it at once.

In most commercial spaces the floor keeps trading. Larger areas are phased so only one part is out of use at a time, and the work is regularly programmed for evenings, weekends or a shutdown period instead of your busiest hours. Access windows are agreed with your facilities team before the first roll is cut.

The crew that starts your job is the crew that finishes it, so nobody is re-explaining your kitchen to a new face on day three. Most projects run two to four days and the space is back in use the same week — a rental between tenancies, or a boardroom between bookings, loses days rather than weeks.

What we ask of you

Your part in the day is a small one.

Almost everything that decides how the day goes was settled at the measure-up visit. The elements were measured one by one, the finish was chosen with samples judged against your own surfaces in your own light, and the film reference for each element was named on your written, itemised quote. By install day there is nothing left for you to specify.

What genuinely helps on the morning is clearing the worktops, so they can be covered and protected properly and the crew has room to work along the run. Being reachable during the day covers the occasional question, and being there at the end means you can walk the work while the crew is still in the room.

In writing

Everything is on paper, at each point it matters.

By install day the decisions are already made and written down. Your quote is itemised element by element — door, drawer front, panel, counter — with the exact film reference named against each one and the preparation listed alongside it. The deposit that followed was properly invoiced and tied to a confirmed installation date, so it bought you a place in the diary rather than a wait.

The call-out fee that secured your measure-up visit is credited back when you go ahead, so the visit that produced an accurate number is not an extra sitting on top of the job.

On the day itself the roll labels do the checking for you. The architectural films we install — Cover Styl’, Bodaq, 3M DI-NOC and LX Hausys among them — are catalogued by reference, and that reference is printed on the label. Matching it against the line on your quote takes seconds, and any installer working with genuine architectural film can do it without hesitation.

At completion the warranty documents go into your hand rather than being implied: the manufacturer's own cover against cracking, peeling and fade for up to 10 years, with our workmanship cover in writing alongside it. The balance falls due after you have walked the work and inspected it, and not a moment before.

Good questions

What owners ask before install day.

Do I need to empty my kitchen before you arrive?

Not the whole kitchen. Clearing what sits on the worktops helps us cover and protect them properly before any cutting starts, and it gives the crew room to work along the run. Beyond that, the room stays yours: your layout, hinges and handles are untouched, and the carcasses, plumbing and tiling stay exactly where they are. Where a door or drawer front comes off to be wrapped properly, it goes back on its existing hinges. If anything else needs moving, we tell you at the survey rather than on the morning.

Can I stay in the house while you work?

Yes, and most owners do. Wrapping happens in situ — there is no demolition, no dust and no skip in the driveway — so the house does not have to be emptied of life while we are in it. In most homes you carry on using the room around us, because the work moves through it element by element rather than closing all of it at once. Most projects run two to four days and the space is back in use the same week. If you would rather be out, that is fine too; we simply agree the access with you before the first roll is cut.

How do I know the right film arrived?

You check it, and we would rather you did. Architectural film from Cover Styl’, Bodaq, 3M DI-NOC and LX Hausys is catalogued by reference, and that reference is printed on the roll label. Your quote names the exact film reference against each element — door, drawer front, panel, counter — so matching the label to the line on your quote takes seconds. That is the practical value of a specified finish over a colour name: there is something to compare. Ask the installer to show you the label on any roll, at any point in the day.

What happens if something is not right at the walk-through?

You tell us, and we put it right. That is precisely what the inspection is for, and it is why the balance falls due after it rather than before — the money moves once you have walked the work and are satisfied with it. Wrapping is element by element, so a single door, panel or return that is not up to standard is its own piece of work and does not disturb the rest of the room. Our workmanship cover is handed over in writing at completion alongside the manufacturer's warranty, so the standard is not a promise you have to remember.

How soon can I use the surfaces after they are wrapped?

We tell you surface by surface on the day, in plain terms — which elements are ready for normal use straight away and which are worth leaving alone a little longer. It varies with the element, the film and the room, so you get the honest answer for your surfaces rather than a rule of thumb. Cleaning guidance comes with it: a damp cloth and a mild household cleaner is the whole regime, and the manufacturer's data sheet for your exact film is available on request. The films are warrantied against cracking, peeling and fade for up to 10 years.
