Questions & answers

Everything people ask
before they wrap.

Cost, durability, the warranty documents, the films themselves and what actually happens in your house on installation day — answered here in the same words we would use standing in your kitchen or walking your site.

Cost, Quotes & Booking

What it costs, and how the money works.

Wrapping is typically up to 70% less than replacing the same surfaces — here is how that price is arrived at, and what you pay when.

What does surface wrapping cost?

Typically up to 70% less than replacing the same surfaces. Every space is different, so we visit, measure and show you samples first — then prepare an accurate estimate. The visit carries a call-out fee, credited back when you go ahead.

What does kitchen wrapping cost?

Far less than replacing — typically up to 70% less than a new kitchen in the same layout. Kitchens are priced per door, drawer front and panel after a survey, because no two are the same size or condition. We visit, measure and show you samples against your space, then prepare an accurate written estimate. The visit carries a call-out fee, credited back when you go ahead.

Why are some wrapping quotes so much cheaper?

Usually because the film is different. Much of the low-priced market wraps with decorative vinyl — a product made for signage and craft use, not for surfaces that are touched and cleaned every day — and stops the finish at the visible face. We install architectural film only, from the houses architects specify, with edges and returns wrapped and the exact reference named on your quote. The gap between the two quotes is the gap between year one and year five.

Is the quoted price the price I pay?

Yes. Your price comes after a real measure-up, in writing and itemised, and the quote shows the measurements behind every number so you can compare totals for the same scope. If something genuinely unforeseen surfaces once we start, the work pauses until you have agreed the extra — with a price, in writing. Your quoted price is a commitment, not bait.

How does payment work?

In three plain stages, all of them invoiced. The measure-up visit carries a call-out fee, credited back when you go ahead. The deposit is reasonable, properly invoiced, and tied to a confirmed installation date — so it buys you a place in the diary, not a wait. The balance falls due on completion — after you have inspected the work, never before.

What happens after I request a quote?

We arrange a measure-up visit and bring the film brands’ sample books to you, then prepare your estimate. A call-out fee secures the visit — and is credited back when you go ahead. Requesting a quote takes about two minutes.

How do I book a visit, and which areas do you cover?

Send the quote form — about two minutes — or call us on +27 74 906 5616. We come back to arrange the measure-up visit, bring samples to your space and issue a written estimate afterwards. Wrapt Interiors™ works across Johannesburg and Gauteng, and nationwide by arrangement.

Durability, Warranty & Aftercare

How long it lasts, and what is guaranteed.

The warranty documents you are handed at completion, the daily care that keeps a wrap looking new, and what happens if a panel takes a knock.

How long does a wrap last?

Our films are premium, engineered architectural films built for daily use — warrantied against cracking, peeling and fade for up to 10 years. The warranty is in writing and handed over at completion, with our workmanship cover alongside it.

Does it last as long on every surface?

Actual life depends on the element, the traffic it takes and where it sits in the building — we tell you the honest expectation for your surfaces before you commit, and the manufacturer's data sheet is available on request. Where a surface should not be wrapped at all, we say so before you spend, not after.

What exactly is guaranteed, and is it in writing?

Every guarantee we give is the manufacturer's published warranty, handed to you as a document at completion, alongside our workmanship cover in writing. If it isn't on paper, we don't consider it given — so ask us for the warranty document rather than the promise, and ask anyone else you are speaking to for theirs.

How do I clean and care for a wrapped surface?

Day to day it is wipe-clean: a damp cloth and a mild household cleaner, no abrasive pads or scouring creams. That is the whole maintenance regime — in a commercial space you brief the cleaning company once and it is done. On worktops, sensible care goes a long way: a board for cutting, a trivet for hot pans.

If a panel gets damaged, can that panel alone be re-wrapped?

Yes — and it is one of the quiet advantages of wrapping. A trolley into a lift wall, a knock on a cupboard door: that panel alone is re-wrapped, usually in hours, without touching the rest of the kitchen or the floor. Where a protective film took the hit, the film took the damage so the surface underneath did not, and renewing the film costs a fraction of repairing or replacing the material itself.

The Films & Finishes

What actually goes on your surfaces.

Architectural film from the world's leading film brands — what it is, how convincing it looks, and how a finish is chosen for your space.

What is architectural film?

Architectural film is a self-adhesive interior surfacing vinyl — a thin, engineered film that bonds over an existing surface and takes on its shape, including curves, returns and edges. It is specified and installed like a finish, not like wallpaper: trained installers prepare the substrate, cut to the element and wrap it in situ. It is also sold as architectural vinyl, architectural interior film or architectural wrapping film — the same product family under different names.

What is the difference between architectural film and ordinary vinyl wrap?

Class of material, and standard of installation. Architectural film is manufactured as a building finish: engineered for daily contact and cleaning, catalogued by reference, and carrying its manufacturer's published specification and warranty. Ordinary decorative or signage vinyl is a different product built for a different job, and much of the low-priced wrapping market runs on it. The distinction shows up later, not sooner — at the edges, on the references, and when a warranty is actually called on. We install architectural film only, named on the specification so it can be verified.

Which brands of architectural film do you install?

Cover Styl’, Bodaq, 3M DI-NOC and LX Hausys, alongside premium solids and effect films — over 1,500 finishes in total. The film named on your specification is the film that goes on your surface, and the roll labels are there to check on install day.

Will it really look like the real material?

Yes — this is genuine architectural film, a building finish that happens to arrive on a roll. The films hold a wood grain, a marble vein or a brushed-metal sheen so convincingly a keen eye can't tell.

Can you match brand colours or a specific finish?

We specify from over 1,500 architectural film finishes — Cover Styl’, Bodaq, 3M DI-NOC and LX Hausys — including a deep range of solid colours, so brand palettes are usually matched from stock ranges. Bring us your colour reference and we will sample against it before anything is committed.

How does film protect a surface you already love?

It's a sacrificial wear layer. The film — clear, or matched to your existing finish — bonds over the surface, so scratches, scuffs, UV and spills land on the film instead of the material underneath. When the film has done its job, it's the film you renew, not the surface.

The Installation

What we do, in what order.

From the measure-up visit to the warranty documents in your hand — including the preparation that decides how long a wrap lives.

What can be wrapped?

If it has a flat or curved face, it can be wrapped: kitchen cupboards and counters, wardrobes, vanities, doors and feature walls — from a single cupboard door to a full commercial fit-out.

What happens at the measure-up and sample visit?

We come to you, measure every element that will be wrapped — door, drawer front, panel, counter — and bring the film brands’ sample books with us, so the samples are judged against your own surfaces in your own light rather than under showroom bulbs. You get honest counsel with it: where a surface should not be wrapped, we tell you before you spend. The written, itemised estimate follows the visit, and the call-out fee that secured it is credited back when you go ahead.

How much preparation happens before the film goes on?

More than the wrapping itself, on most jobs. Preparation — cleaning, degreasing, repairs, edge priming — is part of every job, and we schedule the time it honestly takes, because prep is where a wrap's life is decided. If our timeline is ever shorter than another quote's, it will be skill, never missing prep.

Are edges, returns and cut-outs wrapped too?

Yes — that is where the craft lives. Edges, returns, corners and cut-outs are wrapped and finished to the same standard as the faces, rather than trimmed short, because that is exactly where moisture and daily wear get in. Look at our past work up close and photograph the edges; any wrap is beautiful from three metres. Ours are beautiful from three centimetres.

Will my home or site be protected while you work?

Before a blade comes out. Worktops and floors are covered and protected first, the work is clean and quiet, and the space stays in use — most homes carry on around us and most offices keep trading. The crew that starts your job is the crew that finishes it, and the warranty documents are in your hand at completion.

Homes

Kitchens, cupboards and the house you live in.

Doors, drawer fronts, counters and even the fridge — what to expect when the site is your own home, and you are still living in it.

If we're wrapping our kitchen, can we stay in the house during the install?

Absolutely. Wrapping happens in situ — no dust, no noise and no skip in the driveway. Most kitchens are done in a day or two and back in use the same week.

How long does a kitchen take?

Most kitchens are wrapped in two to four days, in situ. There is no demolition, no dust and no skip in the driveway — the kitchen is back in use the same week, and in many cases you keep using it around us.

Do you remove the doors?

Where it produces a better wrap, yes — doors and drawer fronts come off so faces, edges and returns can be finished properly, then go straight back on their existing hinges. Carcasses, panels and counters are wrapped in place. Either way, your layout, hinges and handles are untouched unless you ask us to change them.

Can kitchen counters be wrapped?

Yes, with an honest caveat: film performs hardest on vertical and furniture surfaces — doors, panels and cabinetry. Counters can be wrapped and look superb, and with sensible care (a board for cutting, a trivet for hot pans) they hold up well. We will tell you plainly what your worktop can expect before you decide.

Can you wrap fridges and other large appliances?

Yes. Fridges, freezers, dishwasher fronts and other large appliances take architectural film beautifully — matched to the new kitchen so everything reads as one design, or wrapped as a deliberate statement piece. It is the fastest way to bring an appliance that still works perfectly into a kitchen that has just been transformed around it.

Is wrapping suitable for a rental or a landlord?

It is one of the strongest cases for it. A tired kitchen is made presentable between tenancies in days rather than weeks, for a fraction of a replacement, with no demolition and no void period. Single damaged panels can be re-wrapped later without touching the rest of the kitchen.

Commercial & Trade

Boardrooms, receptions, lifts and retail.

The rooms where your business makes its biggest first impression — programmed around your access windows, and specified in writing for architects and procurement.

Can you work after hours or over a weekend?

Yes — most of our commercial work is programmed that way. Evenings, weekends and shutdown periods are normal for us, and larger floors are phased so only one area is out of use at a time. We plan the access windows with your facilities team before the first roll is cut.

How long does a boardroom take?

Most single rooms are a matter of days rather than weeks, and are commonly programmed across a weekend so the room is back in service on Monday. The honest answer depends on the element count, the condition of the surfaces and the access you can give us — we confirm the schedule in writing after the survey, not before.

How durable is it in a high-traffic commercial space?

Premium architectural films are engineered for exactly this: doors, lift cars, reception fronts and panelling that take hundreds of touches a day. Our finish films carry the manufacturers' own warranties against cracking, peeling and fade for up to 10 years, and where a published specification matters for an element or environment, the manufacturer's data sheet is available on request.

A cheaper wrapping quote has come in — what are we comparing?

Usually the film, and what happens after handover. Low quotes in this market are often built on decorative vinyl rather than architectural film — a different product class, without the manufacturer's specification or warranty behind it — and on installation that stops at the visible face. The cost difference reappears at the first lifted edge, multiplied across a floor of doors. Ask any bidder, including us, to name the film reference in writing, supply the manufacturer's data sheet, and put the warranty on paper. We are comfortable being compared on those terms.

How do architects and designers specify it?

Tell us the elements and the look. We send samples, supply the manufacturer's data sheets on request, survey the site and measure, then issue a written, itemised specification listing the exact film reference against each element. Installation is programmed around your works — phased, after hours or in a single hit.
